A new study published in the Journal of Neuroscience by researchers from Northwestern University has found that music lessons have a last effect, even if they don't continue into adulthood. People between the ages of 55 and 76 were able to process sounds, both in quiet and noisy conditions, faster if they took music lessons as a child. Even if the participants had not had lessons for 40 years, the effect was still there!
